Engineering X’mas Staff Forum

Wednesday, the 6th of December showed the annual meeting for the Faculty of Engineering, late in the morning. The meeting, held at F1A03, started off with the Dean starting the event whilst wearing a festive, sparkly Christmas bobble hat. On that note, it was meant that every presenter had to put on an equally festive, if not sparkly Christmas bobble hat, which they did. This brought a touch of humor and light-heartedness to an otherwise serious business.
The meeting came onto a sad note when it was time to bid farewell to a long-term academic from the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. Dr. Cheah Siew Cheong was retiring after being part of the faculty for about a decade with the department. He was showered with parting speech, farewell gifts, and a very lovely dedicated farewell video from his students.
The meeting concluded at 1 pm with the Teaching and Research Excellence Awards, in three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold respectively. The meeting was followed by the Annual Christmas Dinner, hosted at the Block B foyer, with an abundance of catering service, and an all around hearty, light atmosphere marking the end of another non-academic year at the faculty.
